Franc Vila Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept
Ultra-limited Edition of 8 Pieces Franc Vila will unveil at Baselworld 2008 its FVa Nº 6 Tourbillon Planétaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept, whose movement has been built for the first time ever in an Aluminium-Lithium based alloy christened ''lightnium''. This new material is an extremely low density metal, formerly reserved for state of the art aeronautical engineering. It's main characteristics are lightness combined with high tensile strength, allowing for structural weight reduction and an increase in elastic modulus. Designed to be shock and stress resistant, FVa Nº 6 Tourbillon Planétaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept is the result not only of an intense quest for aesthetics, but also of technical prowess. The creation of a movement with these characteristics in a material with these properties has led FRANC VILA to seek inspiration in disciplines not traditionally related to High-End Watchmaking. The structural design of the mechanism has its roots in modern architecture. By using an extremely low density material and reducing the movement to its minimum expression, it is made into a skeleton. All the while, maximum stability of the system is ensured by allowing the movement to be rigid enough to stand up to the stresses of the gear train, barrel and tourbillon thereby ensuring perfect performance. The lightness of this new material means that the movement is less affected by inertial forces. This advantage, combined with its strong architectural design, make this tourbillon the strongest and sportiest skeleton watch in it's category. In the words of Franc Vila, "most skeleton watches are highly traditional machines, featuring ornate engraving and classical motifs in the style of Rococo Art. They don't take care of the architecture of the movement. I wanted to create a contemporary skeleton tourbillon which evokes the senses with clear influences of contemporary art, design and modern architecture". Technically, the movement has 5 days of reserve power. It's regulatory organ is a flying tourbillon which is equipped with the "Inertial Moment Control". This control constantly and precisely regulates the tourbillon. A differential system of planetary gears allows a fast planetary winding function effectively reducing by two-thirds the number of turns needed to wind the watch.
Case: Black DieHard Extreme Steel, DieHard Extreme Steel, red gold, white gold, Titanium & Gold or Titanium & DieHard Extreme Steel or Black DieHard Extreme Steel. Special “Esprit Unique” shape with elliptic and circular bezel. Crystal and caseback both in sapphire with double sided anti-glare treatment.
Water resistant 100 meters.
Movement: FV Nº 6 calibre. 33 rubies. Flying tourbillon with inertial moment control mechanism and wheel differential system. Mechanism manufactured in the brand’s characteristic “Esprit Unique” shape, hand-made and hand-decorated.
Functions: Hours, minutes and power reserve indication.
Dial: Transparent saphire dial with hours and minutes indications.

Hublot Big Bang Watch
Hublot Big Bang is the quintessential key to the new Hublot Fusion concept. A "Big Bang" of grandiose proportions conceals the Hublot’s timeless sportiness and elegance so worthy of admiration. The 18kt red gold case has been enlarged to 44.5 mm, the angles are sharper and the play of superimposed layers around the lugs rests on the brand’s 4 mainstays: Swiss tradition, the visionary art of watchmaking, the fusion of materials and state-of-the-art technology and aesthetic innovation. On the technical side, "Big Bang" houses the new Jaquet 1859 mechanical movement with automatic winding mechanism, visible through a transparent back, which continues the fusion concept combining the Tradition of Swiss Horology with the Visionary Art of 21st century Watchmaking. The watch’s components include a circular-grained bottom-plate, polished satin-finish bridges with chamfered edges, black PVD screws and an oscillating weight sporting the Hublot colour scheme, made entirely of Tungsten and given a dimpled finish, also treated in black PVD. To complete the fusion of unusual materials, Hublot has added a dial in stamped carbon and an enlarged bezel in ceramic now adorned with 6 sunken screws, polished and blocked with ‘H’-shaped slots.
Model: Big Bang (RG / Carbon / RG-Carbon)
Movement: Automatic
Gender: Gents
Size: 44.5mm
Band: 18kt Red Gold and Carbon Fiber Bracelet

BREITLING Superocean Héritage
Caliber: Breitling 13
Movement: Breitling Caliber 13, officially chronometer-certified by the COSC, selfwinding, high frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour), 25 jewels.
1/4th of a second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers.
Calendar.
Case: steel. Water-resistant to 200 meters (660 feet/20 bars).
Screw-locked crown.
Unidirectional ratcheted bezel.
Cambered sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides.
Strap/bracelet: Ocean Racer in rubber/Ocean Classic in woven steel.
In the late 1950s, having established its mastery of the skies, Breitling set off to conquer the maritime depths by launching the Superocean, a professional diver's watch that also gained a following among the first leisure diving enthusiasts. Ever since, successive generations of Superocean models have continued to excel on a technical level, boasting water resistance to depths of 500, 1500 and even 2000 meters. A glowing tribute to the original model, the Superocean "Héritage" line reflects both its spirit and its aesthetics, as in the new Chronographe version. As was the case 50 years ago, its dial carries the Breitling signature topped by the stylized letter B in 18-carat gold. The model also features another distinctive detail: the hour is displayed by the same luminescent triangular-tipped hand that already enabled unequivocal read-off even in the darkness at great depths. The choice of wrist bands is equally exclusive - starting with the Ocean Classic woven steel bracelet, which mirrors the initial version that gave the watch its unusual visual appeal. The even more resolutely sporting Ocean Racer rubber strap comes in three colors matching those of the dial and bezel: black, blue and bronze. The original design of the Superocean Héritage Chronographe is matched only by the quality of its performances. Its imposing steel case, measuring 46 mm in diameter and water-resistant to 200 meters (660 feet/ 20 bars), houses Breitling Caliber 13, a sturdy high-precision movement offi cially chronometer-certified by the COSC - as indeed are all Breitling movements.

Breitling Navitimer
In the 1940s, Breitling added a circular slide rule to the bezel of their chronograph models for use by aircraft pilots. This became the famous Navitimer model. During the 1950s and 1960s, a version of the Navitimer was offered by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association with the AOPA logo on the dial.
In 1961, Scott Carpenter, one of the original astronauts in the Mercury space program, approached Breitling with idea of incorporating a 24 hour dial instead of the normal 12 hour dial. This was needed because of the lack of day and night during space travel. Breitling complied, and produced the 24 hour Navitimer which Carpenter wore on his 1962 space flight. Breitling then proceeded to produce the 24 hour version as the so-called Cosmonaute Navitimer - under both Breitling and AOPA logos.
