It features a flying tourbillon, with a minute hand, which has its center of rotation at the center of the watch, performing one complete rotation per hour. The tourbillon carriage, suspended on the minute hand, spins once per minute on its own axis.

The case is done in 18kt white gold and the dial is in silver, with gold applied Arabic numerals and hour-markers.

Movement is the in-house manual-winding caliber 608P with 27 jewels, beating at 21,600 bph and with a 70 hour power reserve. The tourbillon carriage has 3 titanium bridges. The mainplate, bridges and carriage are bevelled and drawn out by hand with a file, the finishing is Cotes de Geneva with blued screws.

New model from Porsche: Four-Door Panamera

Porsche Panamera described as a four-door grand touring (GT) sports car rather than a coupe or sedan. Production is slated to start next spring for a summer on-sale date, and the car is expected to be priced at around $175,000.

Power for the Panamera will come from a range of V6 and V8 engines that will likely mirror the Cayenne lineup. The engines will run from a paltry 300 horsepower up to the 500-hp unit from the Cayenne Turbo.

The Patek Philippe Celestial is a very special timepiece. Introduced at the 2002 Basel Fair, the Celestial depicts the night sky as it appears over Geneva Switzerland. The astronomical display utilizes a system of rotating sapphire plates, which turn at different speeds and are layered, to reproduce the relationships of the various celestial bodies at various times. The watch also indicates moon phase. Patek Philippe reports calculating 25 trillion "ratio combinations" to arrive at the most accurate possible system for measuring the movement of the stars. I could go into the mechanics of the watch, but suffice to say that building a mechanism to animate such an amazing cosmological microcosm was a feat uniquely suited for Patek's master watchmakers.

Case is 18k white gold with dimensions of 43mm wide by 10mm thick. The case sides are embossed with the Calatrava Cross, to very nice effect. Sapphire crystals front and back. Crown at 2 o'clock sets the time and winds the watch. The crown at 4 o'clock is for setting the astronomical display.

Dial is blue and displays the aforementioned information. There is an elliptical window which is marked with the cardinal directions for orienting the celestial display to true north. There is a roman numeral elaborated minutes and hours chapter at the dial's edge. Skeletonized "Feuille" style hands.

Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 240 LU CL with 45 jewels and 301 individual, hand-finished parts. Every tooth, on every gear wheel, was hand polished on a rotating hardwood disc. Patek requires several months to produce each Celestial caliber, and it's no wonder when one considers the innumerable steps and man hours required to produce such a machine. Harry Winston have unveiled their Z4 watch which is part of their Z Collection of complicated watches. The Z4 case is made of zalium (an alloy of zirconium used to make surgical tools and jet engines) whilst the display is made of sapphire crystal. The Z4 displays two time zones with a day night indicator for each as well as a innovative date indicator. Harry Winston will make only three hundred Z4’s and they will be available exclusively from Harry Winston stores.

By pressing the repeater-style trigger on the left side of the case, you can click from one time zone to the next.
The easy-to-read date, quick-set by the crown, is framed vertically in the interplay of discs for the minute display and hour.
Completing the indicators is the tiny rotating shuriken symbol — a multi-bladed throwing weapon, a feature of all Project Z watches — which shows that the movement is functioning normally.

The vital statistics: 659 mechanical parts (71 of them jewels) and 21 functions and displays, including a perpetual calendar for the next 500 years, together with a perpetual moon phase display made of polished goldstone representing a star-studded night sky. Working inside the case are a chronograph and a highly complex minute repeater activated through an all-or-nothing piece slide. This wonderful invention chimes out the time in crystal-clear tones, which are activated by the slide on the left-hand side of the case. Two tiny, precision-made hammers are released and chime the time in hours, quarters and minutes on two gongs. The striking mechanism is a technical tour de force. Initially, the chimes were inaudible outside the solid platinum case, so the glass was freely suspended on a platinum membrane to enable it to amplify the vibrations produced by the gongs via the sound transmission pin. The case, too, finished in solid platinum with a fineness of 95 percent or 18 ct. rose gold, is first-class. Despite the complex design of the case, the Grande Complication is unaffected by superficial water splashes.

Clerc Odyssey

GÉrald Clerc descends from a long line of jewel-lers and watchmakers dating back to 1874. A few years ago, he began designing and distributing a line of his own watches. Timekeeping is nothing new for his family, which has always created watches, in association with Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, and Jaeger-LeCoultre until the end of the 1970s, and after that, independently. But GÉrald Clerc, himself, had new ambitions. He wanted to create a true watch collection under the name Clerc. From the beginning, his offer was essentially based on a unique case. It was a striking model, a sort of bold octagon, but with rounded angles and softened lines. Concentrating mainly on the challenging American market, Clerc was able to make significant inroads, opening up over 40 high-end stores. Today, Clerc has returned to Switzerland where he is reorganizing his activities and focusing on the international market with more complicated models.

Another new remarkable collection is the sophisticated Icon 8. Pure, eminently chic, well proportioned, and exuding a very contemporary elegance, this model is available with or without various complications: power reserve indicator, large date, large date and second time zone, and an oversized vertical-bridge tourbillon.It is also presented in a very lovely skeleton version (also very contemporary) or in a limited edition with hand painted ceramic dials. Like a couturier, Clerc carefully chooses the colours of his dials, in order to obtain the greatest degree of refinement and delicacy.The renewal of the brand does not stop with these products. Manolo Blahnik Marimekko shoes

The latest unexpected fashion pairing comes from Finland’s 56-year-old design powerhouse, Marimekko, and the King of Shoes, Manolo Blahnik. Blahnik Spring/Summer 2008 collection will include shoes in the venerable Marimekko pattern Mini-Unikko (shoe on left). Maija Isola designed the pattern in 1964 in protest to Marimekko’s founder and mastermind Armi Ratia’s pronouncement that there will not be floral patterns in Marimekko. Unikko not only melted Ms. Ratia’s heart but it has become one of the most enduring and recognizable of Marimekko patterns. The other Marimekko Blahnik shoes will be adorned in the more graphic BonBon pattern.

The Lacus Temporis watch is named for the Lake of Time on the moon and is the first in the Rufus Gerard Lunar Series. It has a 40.8 mm stainless steel case with front and back sapphire crystals and a pushbutton crown lock.The watch has a 40 jewel mechanical movement. The strap is crocodile. The watch is done in a limited edition of 350 and sells for $8800 .

BMW M1 supercar

BMW showing its M1 Homage, a tribute to a legendary super-sports car that began production 30 years ago. This M1, however, is only a concept.

The M1 Homage holds remarkably firmly to the original, which had a BMW father and a Lamborghini mother (or vice versa; your call). Production of the original M1 ended in 1981 after a mediocre racing career few remember. It's better known for accelerating people to its top end of 162 mph, and doing it with a refinement rare among sports cars.

The two best features of the new version: 1) BMW created a new color, Liquid Orange, for just this concept car — never has any hue known as "orange" been this right on a car. 2) The bestial front end. The headlights are set deeply back into the grill (there is, technically no such thing on this car). They peer out in a feral squint. All the sharp lines flow together to create a look of absolute patience. It will pounce when it can take you down with the least amount of effort.
